Around Georgia

We will visit Liberty Square, Gabriadze Theatre, the ancient Anchiskhati basilica, Sioni cathedral and Metekhi church. Today we make a travel through time and visit Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, and main sanctuaries of the country – the Jvari and Svetitskhoveli monasteries. We'll see the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers.
After we will visit Upliscikhe – an ancient ancient rock-hewn town, formed around 2nd-1st millenniums B.C. and take a photo-stop in the Joseph Stalin's museum.
Overnight in Akhalcikhe.

We will enjoy the rocky landscapes of Samtskhe-Javakheti, pass the corridors of the 12-level cave monastery of Vardzia which used to play important role in medieval Georgia politics, economy and culture.
After we will visit the Rabati fortress that has absorbed traces of different cultures and peoples and we will drive along narrow mountain path towards the woods to medieval Sapara monastery where 10-14thc. frescoes still remained. Overnight in Akhalcikhe.

In the morning we will take an exciting tour of riding horses in Atskuri village (close to Borjomi national park) through forest (10 km, 1,5- 2hours) or have a swim in the opened pool with natural mineral water. Then we will drive to the west Georgia and take 1-hour tour along 1600m route and 7 halls of the biggest cave in Georgia, Prometheus cave. After arrival to Kutaisi we will visit Bagrati cathedral, Uikmerioni walls, take a look at Okros Chardakhi palace and enjoy the views of Rioni river from the White bridge. Overnight in Kutaisi.

We will explore Martvili canyons, the most visited site of Georgia, during a 20-min (500m) walk through small arched bridges with the view on 12-meter cascade waterfall. A boat tour will lead us deep in the river, where you get the best impression of canyon's azure water. After we will visit a family for a lunch and taste elardzhi and suluguni – most famous dishes of the region. On our way to Svaneti we will stop and take a walk along the beautifull Enguri HPP, the world's second highest concrete arch dam. Overnight in Mestia.

Today we'll get to the Chalaadi glacier located at the height of 1850m. First half of the trek goes through the beautifull pine forest, then through a valley along the Mestiachala river.
After picnic we'll return to Mestia: visit two-storey basilica in Laghami dated back to 9th century; learn about life and culture of the Svans in the ancient svan house of Margianis Machubi, enjoying best views on Mestia from the traditional svan tower.

Ushguli, the highest permanently inhabited settlement in Europe, lies on the hight of 2200 m above sea level and includes 4 villages. After an exciting 2-hours jeep ride we will take a walk along the villages: see twin-tower, Lower Chazhashi castle, old frescoes in Lamaria church.
After lunch we will climb the hill to Upper Chazhashi castle which is believed to be summer residence of the Queen Tamar. Or we can have a horse ride and get closer to Shkhara glacier. Overnight and dinner in Mestia.

We will ascend to Hatsvali viewpoint (2400m) by a ropeway. Enjoy breathtaking views of mt.Ushba and have a lunch in Zuruldi cafe.
On the way back to Batumi we vill visit the residence of megrelian princes - Dadiani palace, famous for it's architecture and rich treasury. Overnight in Batumi
